I just received a pendant today.

I stumbled upon the site by chance, and chance works in mysterious ways.

I am delighted with the aesthetic of the pendant and the accuracy of the photo compared to the final product.

Following the online order without direct contact, I was contacted by email and a note was included in the packaging, making this transaction more personal.

I am now eagerly awaiting my wife's reaction.

Thank you

I discovered Vézanne workshop jewelry at the Arts et Saveurs d'Exception show in Angers. These are simply unique, sublime pieces of jewelry, with a magnificent history and beautiful craftsmanship. An artist with an eye for spotting small landscapes and details that make objects unique. I completely fell in love and treated myself.
Thank you also for the warm welcome and personalized advice that helped me choose!

Valérie Lebourgeois

Discovered today at Galeries Lafayette in Orléans, Vézanne's artistic creations are extraordinary...

A subtle re-creation, combining the art of faience translated into an old object (the plate) given a second life, the drawing of an old painter on this object, the art of a contemporary designer and her current artistic vision.

It's original, heritage-rich, fresh and imaginative.

Bravo for the idea, the taste and the execution... we love it!

Arnaud B.

A personalized and original piece of jewelry made from a granny's plate. A craftsman who listened to me, a necklace adjusted to my size. Delighted with the gift I received!

Géraldine Derouard

I ordered a custom bracelet as a gift. I exchanged emails and then spoke on the phone with the artisan Clélia Chotard, and found her to be both friendly and very professional. She provided me with clear information about the materials and the manufacturing process. The package was shipped without any issues and the jewelry was very well received. Thank you!

Vézanne

An exceptional piece of jewelry

Motifs extracted from sometimes very old earthenware for compositions between figuration and abstraction.

Unique jewelry for art and earthenware lovers. Sumptuous, sometimes cracked, patinated patterns that speak volumes about their history.

By meticulously examining these details, one can imagine the era in which these faience pieces were crafted, the expert hands that brought them to life, in an artistic approach that was both rigorous and aesthetic.

These exceptional pieces of jewelry are a tribute to the talent of yesteryear in the field of ceramics, an authentic expression that transcends eras and capt captivates lovers and collectors of beautiful objects.

Vezanne Workshop

expertise

A Vézanne piece of jewelry undergoes no less than twenty manufacturing operations. A former ceramicist and passionate about history and art, Clélia is dedicated to crafting each piece entirely with a constant focus on detail and perfection. Her commitment to artisanal heritage is reflected in every piece of jewelry she designs and creates. She is proud to share her story with you.

The starting point

Atelier Vézanne's creations are all born from a passion for antique earthenware.

Clélia, an artist who graduated from the School of Fine Arts, initially pursued an artistic approach centered on painting and worked for several years in an art earthenware factory in Malicorne-sur-Sarthe.

Today, with her aesthetic eye and artisan expertise, she initiates each project by highlighting the authenticity of the pieces while giving them a resolutely contemporary dimension.

Each piece of jewelry, designed and handcrafted in her workshop in France, exemplifies the art of upcycling, thus offering unique, high-quality pieces.

Composition

An essential step in jewelry creation is composition.

Clélia observes and scrutinizes antique earthenware down to the smallest detail. Like a photographer, she zooms in on certain scenes, and the patterns begin to take on a new form. They speak for themselves.

This is the creative phase she particularly loves! Moments suspended in time. She re-experiences the emotion of standing before her canvas, her color palette in hand, watching the patterns come to life.

Cutting and finishing earthenware tiles

Cutting and finishing earthenware requires great precision and delicacy. Earthenware, due to its fragile nature, with an enamel fired at very high temperatures, requires special attention. This is why Clélia begins by carefully cutting the pattern, then she meticulously sands the piece of earthenware to perfect the finishes.

This meticulous task reflects the expertise and know-how acquired after many hours of research. Every gesture is executed with precision to ensure the quality of the final result.

The manufacturing of the media

In her workshop, Clélia pays particular attention to crafting the settings and soldering the rings to enhance and protect the faience.

To elegantly and robustly encase the ceramic, she begins by using a French brass plate specially designed for jewelers, guaranteed nickel- and lead-free. This high-quality raw material is annealed and shaped to create unique settings, tailored to each piece of faience.

Every step of the process is carried out with care and expertise. Once the settings are prepared, Clélia handcrafts small brass rings, which she then silver-solders. This meticulous soldering ensures not only the strength but also the aesthetic appeal of the rings, adding an artisanal and distinctive touch to her creations.

The attention to detail, from the choice of materials to the manufacturing technique, reflects Atelier Vézanne's commitment to the quality and durability of its creations. Her expertise results in unique pieces that blend tradition and modernity, providing the faience with a setting that is both functional and aesthetic.

Polishing

Often undervalued, the polishing step is nevertheless crucial for giving a piece of jewelry its maximum brilliance.

Before polishing, Clélia emery finishes, removes any fire stains caused by soldering, and removes excess solder.

Then comes the polishing stage, a step that requires great care and delicacy. The supports become shiny and spotless, then undergo a final bath before being sent to the plater.

The final result

The supports, plated with fine 23.5-carat gold or 99.99 fine silver by a company certified as a "Living Heritage Company" in France, become the settings for the meticulously prepared earthenware motifs. True precious jewels, Clélia is dedicated to enhancing the past with her contemporary artistic/craftsman's eye. From her hands, "small wearable paintings filled with poetry" are born.

"Yesterday's faience becomes today's jewel." Clélia Chotard
